From the mountains of Tibet to the mountains of Switzerland
Originating in Tibet, Padma is one of many classical formulas saved during the Communist Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1950. The herbal formula was hand carried out of Tibet by a Tibetan doctor, Alexander Badmajew. How to use Padma to strengthen your immune system
While it's not a magic bullet, Padma should certainly be a main component of every comprehensive health program. Of course, it would also be wise to have a balanced eating plan that matches your body's needs, to take whole food supplements and to do regular exercise. Below is a list of guidelines, based on clinical and observational studies using Padma Basic.

Maintenance Dosage for Adults
One tablet two times a day as part of a daily supplement program.
For Children
One tablet three times a day until healthy.
Maintenance Dosage for Children
One tablet per day as part of a daily supplementation program.
It is suggested that you take Padma a half hour before meals or two hours after meals with a full glass of water. There are no known interactions or side effects between this herbal formula and any medications. However, if you are taking prescription medication or homeopathic remedies, it is best to wait one and a half to two hours between taking any of them and Padma whenever possible.
For Chronic Conditions
One tablet two times a day for three days is a good place to start. Then, increase to two tablets two times a day for three days. If the formula is well tolerated, increase to two tablets three times a day for two to twenty-four months, depending on your condition and its severity.
For Hepatitis, Multiple Sclerosis, and Immune System Dysfunction
Follow the dosage directions above for twenty-four months. If you feel good and symptoms have improved, start the maintenance dosage for adults (see below.)
For Circulatory Problems
Begin with two tablets three times a day for two to four months. Reduce to two tablets two times a day for a total of six to 12 months.

Tibetan doctors believe that health depends on the balance of energies in the body, and that illness results from imbalances. If changes in diet and behavior don't correct imbalances, they are treated with medications compounded from plants and minerals. Question Does Padma Basic contain aspirin or salicylates?
Answer No acetysalicylic acid (Aspirin) or other salicylates are added to any PADMA Products. However, vegetables, fruits and spices may contain various amounts of salicylates. The Allergy Department of the Clinic of Dermatology at the University Hospital in Zurich describes the content of salicylate in fruits, vegetables and spices in a list, eg. : Content of salicylate: - Cardamom 77 mg/kg (milligrams/kilogram) - Nectarines 4.9 mg/kg (milligrams/kilogram) Because PADMA Basic contains a small amount of Cardamom, it means that it also contains a (very small) amount of salicylates. Based on the above figures the content of salicylate in PADMA BASIC is about 4.7mg/kg (milligrams/kilogram) which is a similar amount per kg as found in Nectarines.
Please note that PADMA BASIC would never be consumed in the same amount as Nectarines. So a serving of nectarines (maybe a half pound) would contain about 1 mg (1000ug) salycilates and a tablet of PADMA BASIC contains about 2 ug (micrograms) salicylates. Please note: Even a very small amount of an ingredient may cause an allergic reaction in hypersensitive persons. PADMA BASIC must not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. Persons who suffer from an allergy to any of the ingredients of PADMA BASIC should consult their physician, pharmacist or health care adviser

Question PADMA BASIC contains 19 herbs and 2 other ingredients. Why is the European product called PADMA 28?
Answer The formulations of both PADMA 28 and PADMA BASIC are based on the 28th formula in an ancient textbook of Tibetan medicine. Padma Basic is the tradename for the product sold in the united states. It is formulated without aconite. Padma 28 is the tradename for the European product. It is sold with and without aconite, depending on the nation.
Padma Inc. (Switzerland) produces both Padma Basic (exclusively distributed by EcoNugenics) and Padma 28. In 1969 Padma Inc. was founded as a company exclusively dedicated to the manufacturing of Tibetan herbal formulas. Currently ten different Tibetan herbal formulas are sold under the PADMA Label.
Question When should the tablets be taken?
Answer PADMA BASIC is best taken on an empty stomach, one-half hour before mealtime. If you feel any discomfort after taking the tablets, try taking them along with your meal. If you are taking any medications, it is advisable to wait 1-1/2 to 2 hours after taking PADMA BASIC before taking your medication.
The tablets can be chewed or swallowed whole with a glass of water. If you have difficulty swallowing tablets, let them dissolve in a glass of warm water and then swallow the mixture.
Question Are the herbs tested for contaminants prior to production?
Answer Yes. Before processing the raw materials are carefully tested for pesticides, heavy metals, bacteria and mold.
Question How is PADMA BASIC tested to ensure that it contains the correct amounts of the right herbs?
Answer The method used to test PADMA BASIC is commonly known as “chemical fingerprinting.” This technique is used to identify components in a product based on their chemical constituents, such as tannins, flavonoids, saponins, bitter principles, and alkaloids. Technologies used to perform chemical fingerprinting include: thin layer chromatography (TLC), high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC), and gas chromatography (GC).
Question What is sorbital, and why is it added to the product?
Answer Sorbital is a sweet substance that was first found in the ripe berries of the mountain ash (Sorbus aucuparia). It occurs naturally in other berries and fruits as well. Sorbital is often used as a sugar substitute for diabetics. In PADMA BASIC, sorbital is added as a binding agent to help the herb mixture stick together when pressed into tablets. Because of sorbital’s ability to attract moisture, the tablets dissolve easily in the stomach.
Question Does PADMA BASIC contain gluten?
Answer No. PADMA BASIC is gluten-free.
Question Does PADMA BASIC interfere with the effects of any prescription medications, such as beta-blockers or other blood pressure drugs?
Answer Although there is no evidence that PADMA BASIC interacts with medications, some natural substances are known to interfere with the effect of chemical drugs. For example, grapefruit juice should not be taken in combination with synthetic drugs, as it may interfere with the metabolism of certain medications.
No interactions between PADMA BASIC and drugs have been reported. However, it is advisable not to take PADMA BASIC at the same time as prescription medications. It is best to leave a gap of 1-1/2 to 2 hours between taking PADMA BASIC and any medication.
Answer PADMA BASIC is an herbal dietary supplement based on a traditional Tibetan formulation. It consists of a carefully balanced preparation of 19 dried and milled herbs and spices, together with natural camphor. Only unadulterated natural substances of high quality are used for production.
Question What is the difference between Padma 28 and Padma Basic?
Answer PADMA 28 is a European product that is not available in the United States. PADMA BASIC, which is available in the United States, is the same formula as PADMA 28 except for the removal of one ingredient, aconite. In a few European countries PADMA 28 contains aconite in very small quantities, while in others it is not included, identical to PADMA BASIC. Aconite’s absence in PADMA BASIC does not change the effect of the product. In most countries PADMA 28 is sold without the aconite ingredient.
