Culver's Root is a perennial herb (Veronicastrum virginicum) native to eastern North America, having whorled leaves and small white or pinkish flowers in slender spikes. The rootstock of this plant was formerly used in medicine as a cathartic. Cathartics in large doses purge the bowels and stimulate glandular secretions. This formula consists of fresh and dry plant extracts of Veronicastrum virginicum, formerly known as Leptandra virginica.

Culver's Root is especially helpful for elminating toxins that have built up in the body. Plus it assists with problems in the gallbladder or for liver congestion, hepatitis or constricted bile ducts.

What are the some of the possible indications that show I might need the Culver's Root formula?

• Can augment bile flow and help remove inflammation and granular debris from biliary passages.
• Helps increase intestinal peristalsis (mild laxative effect). In delicate constitutions, it does not diminish autonomic tone as do harsh laxatives such as Cascara, Buckthorn, Rhubarb, etc.
• Can have a mild relaxing effect for liver congestion and help with secretion of bile.
• Can assist with lack of normal muscular tension or tonus of the gallbladder, common bile duct and intestines.
• May be useful in hepatitis and liver congestion.
• Can help relieve constricted bile duct due to accumulation of environmental toxins and chronic emotional stress.
• Assists in reducing dyspepsias due to faulty digestion of fats and proteins.

NOTE: Especially good for the sthenic (strong, vigorous or active) or vata type constitution, as in Ayurveda.

CAUTION: Do not use in obstrutive jaundice or cholelithiasis as it could aggravate.
